Dear Middle School Families,
Building on our district's updated dismissal guidelines, we wanted to share a quick note specifically regarding our 6th–8th grade students.
All middle school students (Grades 6–8) are dismissed as walkers each day at 3:00 PM. They do not require special pickup notes for dismissal.
Elementary Sibling Pickups (K-5): Middle schoolers who currently pick up an elementary sibling at dismissal are permitted to continue doing so. If you do not want your middle school student picking up their elementary sibling, please notify the main office in writing.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to make dismissal smooth and safe for all of our students! Please reach out to the main office if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Lois Ellison
Principal
Southgate Public School
As we welcome our students back to school tomorrow, we want to thank you for a wonderful start to the school year!
As part of our commitment to keeping every student safe, we are reaching out to share a quick reminder regarding our end-of-day dismissal procedures. To ensure a smooth, secure process for everyone, our staff will be strictly following our district release protocols.
Please review the key dismissal procedures below:
Written Instructions Required: Students will only be released according to the permanent dismissal instructions provided by custodial parents/guardians during registration.
Authorized Pickups Only: Children will only be released to individuals who are explicitly listed as authorized pickup contacts in Infinite Campus.
No Verbal Changes: For the safety of your child, we cannot accept verbal requests, text messages, or unverified word-of-mouth changes for any reason moving forward. Any changes to your child's routine pickup or departure must be submitted to the school in writing in advance.
Early Sign-Out Identification: If you need to sign your student out early, please come directly to the main office. Office staff will verify a photo ID against your authorized pickup list before releasing your student.
Updating Contact Information: If you need to add or update authorized pickup individuals, please contact the main office as soon as possible so we can update your student’s records in Infinite Campus.
We appreciate your cooperation, understanding, and partnership in upholding these standards to keep all of our Southgate students safe every day.
Please feel free to reach out to the main office if you have any questions!
Respectfully,
Lois Ellison

This is a quick reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8th. We hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful extended weekend!
We look forward to welcoming all of our Lions back on Wednesday, September 9th. We are especially excited to welcome our Little Lions as Preschool begins that day, alongside the start of our 21st Century After-School Intervention Program.
Please note that the opening of Ms. Crystal's Preschool and Childcare, LLC will have a delayed start. We will share the updated opening date as soon as it is finalized!
Enjoy the rest of your break, and we will see you Wednesday!
Important Update: Preschool & Wraparound Care Start Dates
Dear Families,
We are writing to share an important update regarding the start of the upcoming school year.
Preschool is still fully set to begin as scheduled on Wednesday, September 9th.
However, due to an unexpected delay with the state licensing process for Ms. Crystal's Preschool and Childcare, LLC, wraparound care and before/after school programs will not be able to start on September 9th as planned.
While the required Fire Marshal inspection was completed and submitted to state licensing as quickly as possible, Ms. Crystal is still patiently awaiting her final licensing inspection. As soon as services are cleared to officially begin, we will notify parents immediately.
We sincerely apologize for this unexpected delay and any inconvenience it creates for your family. We also completely understand if the temporary absence of wraparound care requires you to adjust or delay your child's preschool start date. Please communicate with the preschool teacher, Ms. Amanda Krebs, if this will impact your child’s start date via email at amanda.krebs@southgate.kyschools.us.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work through these final administrative steps. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions in the meantime.
Respectfully,
Lois Ellison
