Do you have a child at Southgate that is interested in soccer? If so, check out these opportunities with NKY Gunners Instructional and Recreational Soccer. The Rec signups have been extended to Tuesday, Feb. 17. Practices are in Bromley, KY - about 10 miles from Southgate.

Student Council Update: We were so excited to see the interest in Student Council shown by our 4th–8th graders!
Because we want to give every application the attention it deserves, results will be delayed.

We now plan to send out results via student email on Tuesday, February 17th. Our first official meeting will follow on Friday, February 20th, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.

Thank you to all our future leaders for your patience and enthusiasm!

Our K-8 students will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday. Please work with your child's homeroom teacher if you are sending in snacks. Also, Valentine’s Day is about more than hearts and candy – it’s a great time to talk with kids about kindness, respect and boundaries. The Lion Little Dribblers had a fantastic time playing against the Micro Mustangs this past Sunday. Thank you to Ben Kelly, Emily Grant & St. Therese for being such wonderful hosts & the friendly competition! The future looks very 💡 for these young ballers!! 🦁🐎❤️🏀

Students will be notified as to whether or not they were chosen for council this year by end of day - Thursday, Feb 12.

TEAM Southgate looks forward to seeing our families on Monday, February 9 for Parent Teacher Conferences from 12-6pm. Please contact your child's teacher if you still need a time slot for a conference. There is No School on Monday, February 9. Go Lions!

The Little Lion Cheerleaders were recognized with Resolution 26-02 by Mayor Hamberg & the Southgate City Council last night for earning 1st place at the 2026 NKCCA Cheerleading & Dance Championship. The 📣 even performed their routine for everyone. It's a Great Day to be a 🦁!

Southgate Families, The Southgate Independent School District will be implementing NTI Day #3 for Tuesday, February 3 due to tomorrow's weather forecast. The safety of our students and staff is a top priority, & the timing/duration of tomorrow's snow forecast creates legitimate challenges. Students are expected to complete their NTI work for the day. Stop the presses! We have a bit of a "tail" to tell. It turns out our favorite curly-haired columnist handed in her latest journal entry at the end of LAST week, but our humans got a little distracted (likely by squirrels) and forgot to hit post!

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you can definitely teach humans that 'better late than never' is the golden (retriever) rule. Give it a read and show our favorite doodle some love!

Looking ahead to the weekend, our weather forecast is looking very interesting! Just in case we need to transition to an NTI day next week, we want to ensure every student is prepared to learn from home.

As a reminder, NTI Packets were sent home in December. Now is a great time to double-check: do you know where your child’s packet is located?

If you need a replacement or an extra packet, please call the front office this morning so we can prep a new packet for your child to bring home today. We want to make sure we get any replacement packets into backpacks and sent home this afternoon. If your child is absent today and needs another packet, please let us know when you call and we will have the packet waiting for you to pick up in the front office sometime this afternoon.

Hear Us Roar! The Little Lions rocked it tonight for their pre-competition event in the Lion's Den! The cheerleaders & coaches have been working very hard to prepare for their first competition this Saturday. The MS cheerleaders did a fantastic job as well tonight! 🦁❤️📣
