Southgate Public School is proud to announce that Mrs. Malia Melville, our behavior specialist, has been selected as the September Staff Member of the Month.
Mrs. Melville graduated from Campbell County High School. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Northern Kentucky University. Mrs. Melville is working on her master's degree in Elementary Education with plans to graduate in the fall of 2025.
Mrs. Melville began her teaching career as a very young preschool teacher. She then went on to Covington Independent Public Schools where she worked as a substitute teacher for the district and then was hired on as an instructional assistant at Ninth District Elementary School. After she graduated from Northern Kentucky University, she started her career in social work at Holly Hill Child and Family Solutions. However, she realized she missed the education field and began working at Southgate Public School. This is her second year at Southgate as the Behavior Specialist.
Mrs. Melville lives in Taylor Mill, Kentucky with her husband, Jake, and two dogs, Goose and Skye. In her free time, she enjoys painting, crocheting, and basically all things arts. She also enjoys taking the side by side out and spending as much time as possible with family and friends.
Mrs. Melville loves the Southgate community because her in-laws have deep ties to the area and she loves that she is a part of the community in her own way. She has loved getting to know all the students, families, and staff. She is proud to be a lion and honored to win Super Star Staff Member of the Month! SMALL SCHOOL, BIG PRIDE!
