On September 14, 2023, Mrs. Sharyl Iden, RN, was given the PRIDE Award at the Southgate Independent Board of Education meeting. The acronym PRIDE stands for Personal Responsibility In Delivering Excellence.
Sharyl is currently serving the roles of School Nurse/District Health Director, District Technology Coordinator, Food Service Director and Athletics Director. She is also the current Secretary of the Southgate Lions Pride parent & staff organization.
Sharyl began working at Southgate Independent in August of 1990 as the seventh and eighth grade math and science teacher and has had many roles at Southgate since that time. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Morehead State University, an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing from Northern Kentucky University and a Master in Education Degree from Northern Kentucky University.
Sharyl's family includes her husband of 38 years, Ben; her daughter, Sarah Iden Mackey; her son-in-law, Sean Mackey; her son, Luke Iden, her three dogs, Sheba, Wyatt and Brucie and her two grand-kitties, Keanu and Reeves.
